9. Types (or ‘purposes’) of evaluation 2

Number 9 in Dr Paul Duignan's Three Minute Outcomes video series. He talks about different types of evaluation. One common way of dividing evaluation up is to think in terms of the ‘purposes’ of evaluation activity. The types of evaluation covered in this video are: developmental, formative (both types of implementation evaluation), process, impact/outcome, summative and economic evaluation. These can be seen as fitting roughly along the sequence of an initiatives lifecycle. Examples of evaluation questions which correspond to some of these purposes can be seen in Three Minute Outcomes Video 8.
